If you want to shoot, and partially avoid the pass line, place equal amounts on the pass & don't pass line. You can take it down, reduce it, press it, or move it to another number whenever you want for slightly lower odds. If you place a bet, it's not a contract bet.
The shooter in reality has to roll that number twice for you to get paid, (once on the come out roll establishing his point, then again before the 7 to win anything). Let's follow this scenario you put $10 on the pass line.
Since your 'odds' question has been answered, let me follow it up with this, since you're getting into the game Īlthough the pass line bet odds pay slightly better than a place bet, unless you're shooting, why make it at all? It's a contract bet, meaning you can't take it down.
